Ham radio illustration

I grew up with a father who was (and still is) into all aspects of Ham Radio. I absorbed a lot, and wanted a license too, but no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t pass the morse code exam. So instead I got into computers, BBS’s, which eventually led to a very rewarding career in software engineering.

Fast forward a few decades. Once they relaxed the morse code requirement for the license, I went it. I got my General and Technician class licenses.

That was 15 years ago. I barely did much with it, other than acquire a few radios and such – mostly a few handhelds and some digital voice hotspots, as digital voice modes are what I’m mostly interested in.

Recently my interest has increased. There’s a bunch of areas I want to get in to and experiment, so I figured I would create this blog a) to document my experiences, and b) possibly help someone who stumbles across this.
